It took me a long time to gather the walnuts to paint this subject. It had always facinated me, but i have realized there is such a thing as too much. If you dont know what this is about or why this is happening click here. In short, this scene is a depiction of the lifestyle of an historical Hungarian Countess who drained the blood of young girls, believing that bathing in it would keep her looking young. There is not much you see here that hasn't been professed by one historian or another. My reference for her family coat of arms featured on the door here. It is by far, one of my least favorite paintings. It is grey, disturbing and the world probably didn't need it. I have to keep reminding myself that Erzabet Bathory generated this content, and i am just illustrating it. It sickens me to say, but on Deviant Art this is nearly my most popular painting. A shame that the works I love live on the fringe while this pornographic monstrosity takes center stage. |
