Hi,

My name is Paul Hanks and I am a self taught artist who began painting in 1988. I used to try and paint the weirdest stuff I could concieve, but I wasn't long before I fell in love with painting pin-up girls, mostly due to a lack of any real women in my life. Well, my romantic life changed for the better but I still love cranking out my pin-ups.

My early work consists of oils, and later work mainly acrylic. I switched to get away from the lead and the paint thinner fumes. Other mediums used include, glitter, glue, metallic and glow-in the dark paints.

I don't use live models, but I do occasionally use a picture from here or there as a base guideline. I'd say sixty or seventy percent of the pieces on this site were painted from the hip, making it up as I go. Often an idea will come to me during the process or when I'm lying in bed, unable to sleep.

I've shown my work in a variety of environments, galleries, coffee shops, antique shops. I don't like to sell originals because I have a hard time saying goodbye. Prints and postcards are available. If you are interested in originals or reproductions you can contact me by email at phanks@venoma.net
